[15:9]  1 tc The Qumran scroll 1QIsaa reads “Dibon” instead of “Dimon” in this verse.

[15:9]  2 tn Heb “Indeed I will place on Dimon added things.” Apparently the Lord is speaking.

[15:9]  3 tn The words “will attack” are supplied in the translation for clarification.

[19:22]  4 tn Heb “he will be entreated.” The Niphal has a tolerative sense here, “he will allow himself to be entreated.”

[31:2]  5 sn This statement appears to have a sarcastic tone. The royal advisers who are advocating an alliance with Egypt think they are wise, but the Lord possesses wisdom as well and will thwart their efforts.

[31:2]  6 tn Heb “and he does not turn aside [i.e., “retract”] his words”; NIV “does not take back his words.”

[31:2]  7 tn Heb “and he will arise against the house of the wicked.”

[31:2]  8 sn That is, Egypt.

[31:2]  9 tn Heb “and against the help of the doers of sin.”

[41:12]  10 tn Heb “the men of your struggle”; NASB “those who quarrel with you.”

[41:12]  11 tn Heb “the men of your battle”; NAB “who do battle with you.”

[57:18]  12 tn Heb “his ways” (so KJV, NASB, NIV); TEV “how they acted.”

[57:18]  13 tn Heb “and I will restore consolation to him, to his mourners.”

[59:15]  14 tn Heb “and it is displeasing in his eyes.”
